Food should be inspired. We’re not just rice, beans and meat — our menu is full of innovative and crave-inducing creations. We fuse together traditional Mexican cuisine with unexpected and bold flavors from around the world, and sauces made in-house daily to bring hungry customers something truly unique.
We never cut corners on the quality of our food because we know that great ingredients make great, fresh food. We source local ingredients from farm to table purveyors and don’t have freezers in our restaurants. California Tortilla’s quality standards aren’t based on what’s acceptable in the Fast Casual industry. We have our own, higher set of standards that are set by what our guests deserve. It isn’t complicated — fresh just tastes better.
We’re not stopping there. We spend our days continuously improving our recipes, menu and service to ensure that each customer experience is beyond expectations.

THE GUEST EXPERIENCE
Everyone knows that the key to a strong relationship is communication. We’ve developed innovative and imaginative marketing tactics and promotions to generate awareness, encourage conversation, and unite a community. We insist that every member of the community, from the guest to the team to the Franchise Owner, is treated with the dignity and respect they deserve.
We didn’t stop at our food — we re-imagined the entire guest experience. We’ve replaced point and grunt assembly lines with guest-first communication. We engage with our guests, ask them what they are in the mood for, and make sure they LOVE their food. If they don’t, we do whatever it takes to make it right.
We call our guests by their names because to us each guest is a unique person not a number, and because we want to build a relationship with each person who walks through our doors.
OUR STORY SO FAR…
Bob and Keith began as franchisees for Ranch 1, a grilled chicken franchise, and operated out of a national airport.
After that experience, they decided to purchase a California Tortilla from friends who had founded the company.
Bob and Keith opened a California Tortilla in Maryland, the third to open in the U.S.
Demand for the concept exploded, launching Bob and Keith into success of which they had only dreamed.
In 2003, they decided to offer franchise opportunities in a national expansion.
Because they were based out of Maryland, Bob and Keith concentrated on development along the Eastern seaboard to support Franchise Owners’ growth.
Over the last decade, they’ve invested in remodeling and redesigning most of the locations to better capture the California Tortilla feel.
Now, California Tortilla has grown into an incredibly successful franchise and is looking to expand nationally and internationally.
